Our Story
Diverse Fest was born out of a simple but powerful idea shared by its founders, KK Burchell and Cayla Gruendl, who worked together at The Harvest Sarasota. In 2023, they envisioned creating an event that not only celebrated Pride but also lifted up all marginalized voices in the community. Fueled by their passion for equality and belonging, they expanded the vision to embrace people of every background, identity, and story.
Together with Dan Minor and the Harvest team, the first Diverse Fest launched in July 2023, welcoming local nonprofits, LGBTQ+ groups, BIPOC-owned businesses, artists, performers, and community organizations. The goal was clear: to create a free, accessible festival that felt safe, welcoming, and empowering for everyone.
What started as a single-day gathering has now become an annual tradition. Each year, Diverse Fest grows in attendance, featuring local musicians, theatre performances, family activities, food trucks, and vendors—creating space to celebrate who we are and stand together in love and unity.

Why It Matters

-
Voices & Visibility: Centering vendors and performers from LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and other marginalized communities.
-
